Horizon Studio had acquired the Karnataka theatrical rights of Vijay's Mersal. Just like in Tamil Nadu and other major box office centres across the world, Mersal has performed exceedingly well in Karnataka as well.
Talking about Mersal's box office collections in Karnataka, distributor Tony from Horizon Studio said, "Mersal is the highest ever grosser for any Vijay film in Karnataka. It has grossed around Rs. 12.25 crores by the end of its second weekend."
He further adds, "The film was bought for Rs. 6 crores, and it has emerged as a successful film for us (Horizon Studios and Trident Arts). Kabali is the highest grossing Tamil film till date in Karnataka with Rs 15.5 crores and we are hoping for Mersal to beat that record. Vijay's previous best in Karnataka was Theri which collected about Rs 7 crores."
Now that Mersal has turned out to be a BLOCKBUSTER, Vijay fans are eagerly waiting to know more about his next film with AR Murugadoss.
Speculations and wild rumours are pretty common when it comes to big hero films. The latest hot trending buzz that is doing the rounds is that Vijay would be playing a physically challenged person in Thalapathy 62. And Hip Hop Adhi is likely to score music for the film.
When we got in touch with our sources close to Thalapathy 62 camp, they said it would be a challenging role for Vijay, but he is not playing a physically challenged. And their response to Hip Hop Adhi's rumour was, ''nothing has been finalized yet''.
The forthcoming weeks are going to be super-exciting for Vijay fans as we can expect a lot more news about Thalapathy 62, so stay tuned!!!
