Kapoor and Sons, is an emotional and entertaining family drama that revolves around the other side of it's characters. The story is an out and out usual Karan Johar formula that relies strongly on the screenplay. They're a loud, chattering and obnoxious family who are always at loggerheads with each other.
Kapoor and Sons has a smooth pace and tries to be as saucy as possible. Alia Bhatt graces through the frames and wins hearts like a piece of cake. The characterization of each and every character is visible along the lines and the contrast shown is appreciable.
The quirky moments coupled with oh-so many twists make it a must-watch. You can be assured of the fact that it is not a regular rom-com though. The second half of the movie has brilliant conceptualization coupled with amazing picturisation. The family moments will tug at your heartstrings whilst the young women out there will feel jealous of Alia Bhatt. The scenes fade in and out with her poising to choose between two gorgeous men.
Editing is top notch with evened out frames while the locations act as the cherry on the icing. Amaal Mallik and Badshah Arko have whipped up excellence in terms of music and have subtly made the background scores a masterpiece. Arijit Singh's Bolna stands out as the one that is soft and surreal.
To top all this, Rishi Kapoor steals the show with his expressions, jokes and mannerisms while Ratna Pathak Shah has also given it her best shot. The golden grandsons make us swoon with rugged muscles and macho mannerisms. Siddharth and Fawad play it so naturally that they charm the socks off many. The story is loaded with mature performances and elusive drama. Watch it to enjoy the beauty of Coonoor and to re-evaluate grudges inside the heart.
