Jai Gangajal featuring Priyanka Chopra as the leading superintendent of Police is the sequel to the previously released 2003 film starring Ajay Devgn. This is an out and out action drama filled with a roller coaster of emotions.
It's a blend of social issues, chauvinism, power war and the usual wager between the good and the bad. It throws light on power hungry politicians, jerkiest men, gender stereotypes, rape, power play and corporate greed. What's disturbing is the fact that all of these charged molecules dive back and forth with a lack of definite direction.
Priyanka's neatly tucked in bun, perfectly peachy lips, taut black bindi and classy attitude are worth mentioning. Though she tries her best to save the movie and carry it on her shoulders, the screenplay doesn't have much worth to save. It is easily predictable and doesn’t have many twists and turns.
The dramatic scene where she huddles with a goon for assaulting a helpless girl stands out clearly. The crowd erupts with emotions and gets an adrenaline rush when she stands against a male, who has taken an unfair advantage of a young female. Whistles fill the floor and the feminist, in each one out there comes out in full form.
The director has tried to target so many issues including the essence of female empowerment in a male dominated workplace and proves the fact that - too many cooks spoil the broth.
Making a comeback after so many years, Prakash Jha has attempted his best but lost his old charm in the chaos of the story. This project stands by one of those tales that is predictable but is a mass classic!
