Reports have come in that veteran actress Sridevi passed away on Saturday night (February 24), after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 54. Though there is no official statement yet from her family, there are reports that her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor had confirmed to few media about Sridevi's death.
She is said to have been with her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi in UAE to attend a wedding. Sridevi, who was born on August 13, 1963, in Sivakasi, had acted in several Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada movies. Her filmography includes a mammoth number of films as she is one of the few popular actresses to do many films in many languages. Her last Hindi film was MOM (2017) and she is said to have done a special cameo in Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming release, Zero. She debuted in Tamil as a child actor in Nam Naadu (1969) and went on to become the most popular actress across India in her era. Her last Tamil film was the 2015 Vijay starrer, Puli.
Her death is a huge loss, not just to the family, but for the entire film fraternity. We pray for the departed soul to rest in peace.
