Nagraj Manjule, well known Marathi director known for his work in Sairat, Fandry, Pistulya and many others will be making his Bollywood debut. The director has completed the script of the film and confirmed that Amitabh Bachchan will be playing the lead in the film. Amitabh Bachchan, on the other hand, has become one of the busiest actors in Bollywood doing varied supporting and lead roles.

Nagraj Manjule in one of his recent press meetings told that the movie would have social relevance and Amitabh Bachchan will be portraying the role of a patriarch with shades of grey. The film is expected to go on floor from this August, and the movie is expected to hit screens by mid-2018.
