Akshay Kumar who is currently shooting for his socio-drama 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' spoke about the film, in an interview to a B'wood daily. The actor said during the shoot of this film he had met so many women who are forced to go to fields for defecation because of lack of public toilets. Akshay also said that nearly 54% of India doesn't have toilets. He added that it was not that people or the Government could not build public toilets for them, but these people are comfortable with open defecation.
Akshay called this ideology stupid and told he had personally spoken to people during the shoot and told them the consequences of open defecation to their individual health and environment. Akshay further added that if open defecation is completely stopped, then India's rape cases would eventually come down by 30%.
Towards the end, Akshay told that the film is about serious issues but he had added his comical element to convey a strong message in a funny way but without diluting the core message.
