This weekend’s release, Padi Padi Leche Manasu is a love story starring Sharwanand and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles. It is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi who previously made films such as Lie and Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha. With a love story releasing every week, will Padi Padi Leche Manasu have anything different from the rest? Maybe Not.

You are offered a usual Sharwanand type breezy romantic love story for a large part of the first half. Maybe you don't find anything new; Sharwanand and Sai Pallavi’s presence, few laughs here and there, some good music and cinematography work keep you buzzed.

Some may have disagreements with the proceedings and blame the script complications on the bad decisions of the lead characters. But if you look at them as imperfect characters that are hasty while making decisions, you will get used to the story. Some might even compare this movie to the cult-classic Hollywood film 500 Days of Summer.

Towards the interval mark, the story takes a different shape and moves onto a tricky terrain. A section of the audience could find the core script a little too hard to digest, especially the ones who expect a typical feel-good rom-com. Post the mid-point, the film might work only to a set of audience who could accept with the concept it deals with.

Sai Pallavi exhibits maturity in emotional scenes, shares great chemistry with Sharwanand. The exceptional performances put on display by the leads is probably the only that lets us sit through the second half without yawning.

Sharwanand shines with his usual fun and prank antics while he gets to wear more serious makeover in the second half which again, he plays it to the gallery. Sai Pallavi is turning out to be a powerhouse of talent. She is a great find who could dance with such ease and elan.

Vishal Chandrasekhar delivers a cool album with a couple of hit tracks and theatre erupts when the melodious ‘Padi Padi Leche’ track is being played. Jay Jay’s camera work is unobtrusively in line with the film and he makes his presence felt in the song sequences and some candid frames which are shot in the busy streets of Calcutta. His visuals capture the flavour of the movie to perfection. On the other side, the CG works were weak and extremely tacky.

Verdict: A predictable, lacklustre 2nd half overshadows a well-made feel-good 1st half. Can be watched only for Sharwanand and Sai Pallavi
