Jayam Ravi, who is known for his sensible selection of scripts has now come out with his latest film, Adangamaru. Check out our review on this Karthik Thangavel directorial.

Subhash (Jayam Ravi) is an honest cop who is forced to control his anger against business tycoons who commit offensive crimes with the money and power in hand. Subhash gets personally affected when he takes action against one big shot's son and as a result, he decides to avenge the people who turned his life upside down. What was Subhash's personal loss and whether he won against all the odds is what Adangamaru is all about.

Coming to the performances, it is not something new for Jayam Ravi to play a cop, but he shows a good variation with his performance and emotions. His subtle yet fierce actions is the essence of the film and it is delivered in the right proportion. He does 100 percent justice to his character. To much relief, Raashi Khanna gets to play a mature character, a close to reality girlfriend who doesn't sound dumb or hyper.

The supporting actors in the form of Sampath Raj, Azhagam Perumal, Mime Gopi, and others, do a fair job. However, the entire set of antagonists (influential businessmen) do not make an impact with their performances and they look weak against Ravi.

On the flip side, the film takes some time to establish and connect with the audiences initially, but post the important turn of events there is no looking back. Also, Jayam Ravi's police characters and similar investigative stories in the past might give a feel of dejavu, but by the end you will experience a different packaging.

The latter half has a well-constructed screenplay that engages and the cat and mouse game between Jayam Ravi and the antagonists are well etched out. The mind games are infused neatly with the inclusion of science and technology, showcasing the intelligence in the writing department. The inclusion of android games into the screenplay is an interesting aspect that adds a good amount of freshness in the treatment. Inspite of the predictability, the screenplay still looked gripping only because of this freshness in the writing and the execution.

Sayaali is a pleasant number that is neatly placed in the initial part of the film. Majority of the film is filled with the main Adangamaru theme which boosts up the intensity of the scene. However, Sam CS could have used more musical scores in the re-recording. Sathyan's visuals are classy and perfectly supplement the director's vision.

Director Karthik Thangavel has attempted to give an intense revenge drama with a tinge of technology. One can definitely say that the director has succeeded to a greater extent, except for the fact that the premise could have been much stronger.

Verdict: Adangamaru's fresh screenplay and packaging makes this intense revenge drama, a good watch!
