Kangana Ranaut's 'Thalaivi' is one of the most-anticipated movies in recent times. With the 'Queen' actress confirming a theatrical release on September 10, 2021, coinciding with the festive day of Vinayagar Chaturthi, fans are excited to watch the biographical drama directed by AL Vijay that shows the rise of former late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's journey from being an ace-actress and a captivating star to becoming one of the most powerful politicians in India.
Ahead of the release, the 'Queen' actress has flown to Chennai to pay respects to former late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's memorial at Marina Beach. Wearing a bright orange-coloured saree with a statement necklace and her hair tied in a bun, she was seen paying her tributes to the politician amidst high security. She also visited the MGR memorial.

The upcoming biographical film is directed by AL Vijay and stars Arvind Swamy — in the role of former Tamil Nadu CM MG Ramachandran — as well as Madhoo among others. The makers of the movie were stern on a theatrical release despite being offered a whopping price by OTT platforms. After hitting theatres, 'Thalaivi' is expected to have an OTT release on two platforms after four weeks. The official announcement regarding the same is yet to arrive. The movie will be released in threates in three languages including Tamil, Hindi and Telugu on September 10.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut has 'Dhaakad', 'Tejas', 'Tiku weds Sheru' and a few other projects in the pipeline.
