After beating a number of records and also creating some, Mersal is all set to release on Diwali day, the 18th of October. With just 7 days left for release, the producers are currently in the process of getting the necessary screens for the film.

In 2016, Kabali released in 3500 screens worldwide and it set the record for the highest ever screen count for a Tamil film thus far. Yesterday, Hema Rukmani, from Thenandal Studios Limited, announced that Mersal has currently acquired 3292 screens worldwide and more screens are to be added within the 6 days to release. Will Mersal beat Kabali and cross 3500 before Diwali?
