Over the last few weeks, we've seen plenty of films with good content releasing back to back.
He said, "Every film should have a release space of 2 weeks. If a big film like Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is releasing on 28th, then no big film should have released on October 4 / October 5 weekend.
Then we also had to accomodate Ratchasan, NOTA and Pariyerum Perumal, which messed up the schedule. In my opinion, every film should have a two week release window. The business space for all films is 10 days. This ensures proper running for all films with good content. It opens up choice for audience, it is beneficiary for distributors, producers and also theatre owners."
"Another peril of such a packed release is the impending doom of piracy. If there are 4 good films releasing in a span of less than 10 days, then the audience will choose to watch only 1 or 2 out of them. He will move towards watching the films through piracy. Very rarely do they wait and watch the film on legal online streaming platforms." quipped Rakesh.
