The suicide of 17-year-old student Anitha after she failed to get admission because of NEET, shocked the entire state. There were protests all over Tamil Nadu against NEET after her death.

Anitha belonged to a low-income family from Ariyalur district. She secured 1176/1200 in her 12th standard exams. Her 12th marks would have got her a medical seat if only her State Board marks had been considered for admission instead of NEET. It is claimed that she became a victim of the educational system.

Anitha's family even refused Tamil Nadu government's compensation offer of 7 lakhs to show their support against NEET.

Our Behindwoods team had recently visited Anitha's house in Ariyalur for a formal interview with her father Shanmugam and brother Mani Rathinam. You could find the full interview in Behindwoods TV tomorrow at 11 AM.

Now we would like to give you a gist of the discussion. The portion which Vijay fans would be very eager to know. It is about Thalapathy's visit to Anitha's house.

Anitha's brother Mani Rathinam recalls what Vijay had told him during his visit, "even I had a sister once, so I know how painful it must be for you to lose a sister. I wanted to visit you earlier but because of the crowd and other issues, my visit got delayed. I will give you my number; you could contact me for any help. I could even take care of your younger brother's education expenses." - Vijay to Mani Rathinam
