One of the highly-awaited upcoming projects is Venkat Prabhu’s directorial 'Maanaadu', featuring Silambarasan aka STR in the lead. Bankrolled by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner V House Productions, the film will be released on November 4 later this year, coinciding with the festive date of deepavali.
Apart from STR, the film features Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead while SA Chandrasekhar, SJ Suryah, Premgi Amaren, Karunakaran amongst others will be seen in prominent roles. The trailer of the film was released on October 2 and two-minute-long trailer gave a glimpse into Venkat Prabhu's political sci-fi thriller which deals with the concept of time loop.
The trailer had piqued the interest of fans for its unique storyline and fans are eagerly waiting to watch the movie on screens, but it looks like the movie will face stiff competition from another film whose trailer was released yesterday (October 12). 'Jango', billed as India's first "time-loop sci-fi movie", was released on Tuesday, raising the curiosity levels of movie-goers. The film is helmed by Mano Karthikeyan, who has assisted director Arivazhagan and Ram Kumar of 'Mundasupatti' fame.
The close to two and a half minute trailer shows Satheesh Kumar as a Chennai based surgeon named Dr. Gautham with Mirnalini Ravi as a television reporter named Nisha. The protaganists are also seen trying to figure out a way to break the loop. While SJ Surya experiences the loop apart from Simbu in 'Maanaadu', it is unclear whether any of the characters in 'Jango' retain memories from the time loop.
Fans who were surprised with the similarities, compared it with a few Hollywood movies and noted that this may be not the first time loop movie as 'Jango' suggests if 'Maanaadu' releases first. Interestingly, Samuthirakani's 'Vinodhaya Sitham', which was released today on popular OTT platform Zee5. has the ace-actor playing 'Time'.
