It came as quite a bit of a shocker when we heard television actress VJ Chitra had died by suicide at a private hotel in Chennai’s Nazarethpet on December 9. On December 14, her husband Hemnath Ravi, whom she had married in a civil ceremony about two months prior to her demise, was arrested for abetment to suicide.
While it was just yesterday that a case of swindling money from a medical aspirant was slapped on Hemnath, Chennai Commissioner of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal has transferred the case pertaining to the suicide of his wife to the Central Crime Branch today.
Chitra was popular for her role of Mullai in the hit television serial, Pandian Stores and was just 28 at the time of her demise. Soon after her death, her friends and family members had raised suspicions of foul play. An RDO investigation is also currently underway as it is in the case of women being married under seven years and found dead in suspicious/mysterious circumstances.
