South Superstar and Makkal Needhi Maiam president, Kamal Haasan had recently sparked up a controversy. During a campaign in Aravakurichi, the actor stated that the Independent India's first terrorist was a Hindu and his name was Godse (Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin).
He had clarified his statement that this was not to appeal the Muslim-majority constituency. “I am not saying this because many Muslims are here. I'm saying this in front of Gandhi's statue. The first terrorist post India's independence is a Hindu. His name is Nathuram Godse,” the actor-turned-politician reportedly said.
However, this statement has sparked up a controversy and did not go well with many. One such among them was a popular Bollywood actor, Vivek Oberoi. He took to his Twitter and wrote, “Dear Kamal sir, you are a great artist. Just like art has no religion, terror has no religion either! You can say Ghodse was a terrorist, why would you specify ‘Hindu’? Is it because you were in a Muslim dominated area looking for votes?”
