The multi-faceted actor Vijay Sethupathi was announced to play the lead in Sri Lankan cricketer and coach, Muttiah Muralidharan’s biopic which was titled 800. The film's first look and motion poster that was recently released created a huge controversy on social media.
Several celebrities and fans had requested Vijay Sethupathi to walk out of the project due to the political controversies that have happened in the past. Post which, yesterday even Muttiah himself issued a press release.
In his press release, the cricketer requested VJS to opt out of the project, as he didn't want the actor’s image and reputation and film career to be affected because of acting in this movie. To which, the actor has replied tweeting “Nandri Vanakkam!” indirectly conveying that he is walking out of the project.
However, his crisp answer had also confused many and yesterday while the actor had visited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to pay his tribute to CM’s mother, reportedly, he was quoted saying, “When you say, ‘Nandri, Vanakkam’, it means that you have put an end to something.” He also requested not to discuss this issue any further.
