The press meet of Vijay Sethupathi's 96 happened this afternoon (September 29), and the film's entire team were present for the occasion. During the interaction, when Makkal Selvan was asked about the reports on recent income tax raid at Vijay Sethupathi's house, the CCV actor clarified that it was just a survey and not a raid. He also added that negative publicity will never affect him.

Vijay Sethupathi stated, "It wasn't a raid. It is called 'Survey', and I myself got to know about that only when this incident happened. They checked if my credits and debits are processed and used rightly.

Actually, I pay advance taxes for three years, but the returns were not filed by my auditor. So when he filed it together all of a sudden, the IT Department wanted to make sure everything was going properly. I do not worry if there is any negative image about me. Wrong and fake rumours spread fast and that only gives the spice for the people. This wouldn't happen even if I spend so much money. In that way, it is good, as this is also a kind of publicity, but it was never a raid, and wrong reports only surfaced on the media.

Also, this has been a trend now on the social media. They talk some rubbish nonsense and that becomes a publicity. Then they come out clarifying that it was their admin who talked like that. I guess I can also try something like that. Maybe, let us say that it wasn't my house at all, and it was only a set. The Income Tax Department put up a new set of a house and conducted something like this. (laughs)."
