Actor Vijay Deverakonda, through The Deverakonda Foundation, has helped over 17,000 families by providing basic essentials and groceries to middle-class families during the lockdown.
The Middle Class Fund initiative started by the not-for-profit organization saw the complete involvement of the ‘Arjun Reddy’ actor, who hails from a middle-class family himself.
The organization has spent over Rs. 1.7 crores and the initiative saw the involvement of over 8,505 volunteers who offered over Rs. 1.5 crores towards the cause. Vijay’s foundation has maintained transparency of the usage of funds and have ensured zero wastage of capital raised for the initiative.
The activities of The Deverakonda Foundation relating to the management of collected funds were released everyday to the media and according to sources 58,808 families have received timely help through the Middle Class Fund.
As the initiative was solely for the period of the Corona crisis, the activities and operations have concluded as of 2nd June, as the lockdown 5.0 has been announced with several relaxations in every sector in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Vijay Deverakonda and his foundation have previously been successful in carrying out many initiatives for the welfare of youth and the working class and have positively impacted many lives through commendable gestures.
