Vetrimaaran is directing Soori and Vijay Sethupati in 'Viduthalai'. The first look posters of the movie had released sometime back and won audiences over. Soori was seen as a police officer while Sethupathi was in handcuffs. It is not yet known what role VJS plays. This is the first time Vetrimaaran is working with Soori and Vijay Sethupathi.
Earlier, in a media interaction, Soori was quoted as saying, “It’s every actor’s dream to work with Vetri sir. When he called and told me he has this story which he’d like to make with me, I didn’t even think for a minute to give my nod."
The film is produced by Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment and was shot in the dense forests of Sathyamangalam in Erode. Viduthalai was a title previously used for a 1986 film starring Sivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Vishnuvardhan in the lead.
The posters describe Vijay Sethupathi’s character as the ‘Vaathiyaar’ (mentor) to Soori’s protagonist. Ilayaraaja for the first time is composing music for a Vetrimaaran film. It has been revealed that the audio rights of the movie have been lapped up by Sony Music. R Velraj handles cinematography while editing is by R Ramar. Peter Hein takes care of the stunt choreography. Art direction is by Jacki.
