TikTok star Sonali Phogat has been arrested for hurting an officer, and assaulting him with a slipper while he was on duty. Earlier this month, Phogat was seen slapping a government officer, beating him with a slipper, accusing that he used derogatory language.
This video had gone viral on social media and this took place when Phogat had gone to the local grain market. The official she had assaulted is reported to be Sultan Singh, secretary of Hisar market committee, who had filed a complaint against her.
Now, according to multiple reports, Sonali Phogat has been arrested under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 332 (causing hurt to deter public servant from duty), 353 (assault to deter public servant from discharge of duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
Also, it is to be noted that Sonali also filed an FIR against Sultan Singh under the sections 354 (outraging modesty of woman) and 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of woman) of the IPC. The arrest of Sonali took place on June 17, 2020.
