We have come across the heist genre of films in Tamil before through Ajith and Venkat Prabhu’s Mankatha and Nalan Kumarasamy’s Soodhu Kavvum. These went on to become commercially successful films and the genre as such which involves black comedy and mass moments is something that is new to Tamil cinema.

The latest film on those lines seems to be Thittam Poattu Thirudura Koottam directed by Sudhar starring Kayal Chandran, Satna Titus and R Parthiepan in important roles. It has music by Ashwath and it seems to have the theme of an out and out black comedy. The trailer has been cut in an interesting manner and the theme looks to deal with a group of five who are on the hunt to steal the cricket world cup and what happens after that.

The movie TPTK produced by Two Movie Buffs and Across Films has cinematography by Martin Joe and edit by Venkat Ramanan KJ and seems to be a proper heist-based black comedy thriller. We shall have to wait to find out if it is an impressive and engaging outing that falls in the line of some really good heist films.
