Several people have been registering their protest against the NEET examination, deeming it be a disadvantage to students hailing from an impoverished background. Earlier, actor Suriya had called for action. Now, it is the turn of cinematographer Thangar Bachan to post an emotional plea to towards. His statement is as follows:

Only a few from time to time get to enjoy the comforts, high positions, etc, that come by way of education. Only now do three-quarters of the country's population have access to education and other facilities. Even that is not a complete quality education. It is a substandard education for the poor. In this context, the Government of India has created the NEET exam to select those who are eligible for higher education in medicine and allied fields.

NEET was implemented because the rich could buy seats. But those who seem to be missing out on higher education in medicine are poor students in the villages, living below the poverty line who have not yet crossed the first generation of education.

As education has become a major issue in our country, the Government of Tamil Nadu is the only protection for those affected by NEET. A request has been made to exempt Tamil Nadu from the NEET examination from this year. In the absence of a response from the Centre, the Government of Tamil Nadu has appointed an eight-member panel, headed by Justice A.K.Rajan. Citizens of Tamil Nadu as well as the general public, parents and students should immediately write down the reasons for their opposition to NEET and send their correspondence to the coordinates mentioned below.

Our students must now remember and act on the message that retired Supreme Court Judge Banumathi did when valued a letter written on a 15 paisa postcard and used it in a case.

Equal justice should be available to all citizens here. Education for the rich and the poor have been different. When common education is not provided, it is an injustice to conduct NEET.  All students should immediately buy a 50 paisa postcard and send their thoughts in writing. Act immediately for justice.

Last date to send the letter: June 23.

Address to which the letter should be sent:
Hon'ble A.K.Rajan Committee
Directorate of Medical Education,
(Third floor)
Kilpauk,
Chennai- 600010
