The ongoing lockdown caused by the COVID 19 outbreak has created an irreparable damage to the economy, with daily wage labourers of various fields bearing the brunt of the shutdown.
The crisis has pushed several high-profile personalities to contribute to the cause of fighting the pandemic, and the film industry is no different. Many celebrities from Kollywood have donated to this noble cause of supplementing the livelihood of the industry's daily wage earners and other relief fund measures.
The latest celebrity to have contributed is Thalapathy Vijay. According to the tweet by Bussy Anand, secretary of the Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, the actor has donated over 1.30 crore rupees for the Coronavirus relief funds and the split up is given below:
- PM relief Fund: Rs. 25 lakhs
- TN CM Relief Fund: Rs. 50 Lakhs
- Kerala CM Relief Fund: Rs. 10 Lakhs
- FEFSI: Rs. 25 Lakhs
- Karnataka CM Relief Fund: Rs. 5 Lakhs
- Telengana CM Relief Fund: Rs. 5 Lakhs
- Puducherry CM Relief Fund: Rs. 5 Lakhs
Besides this, an amount is distributed to fan clubs in order to help the affected people. Vijay will be next seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming film, Master.
