Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is Mani Ratnam's next film after Kaatru Veliyidai, which released in 2017. The movie stars Simbu in the lead, along with Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami and Arun Vijay. This film also has 4 female leads - Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh and Dayana Erappa.

The makers of the movie have been releasing the first look of each of the male leads for the past two days. They had already revealed the names and looks of Aravind Swami and Arun Vijay, who are named as Varadan and Thiyagu respectively. 

Today, Vijay Sethupathi's character's name was revealed as Rasool. Mani Ratnam is someone who promotes all religions in his movies, and Vijay Sethupathi is touted to play the role of a muslim. The first look does not focus on the name, but on the powerful eyes of the man. 

This film is bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies. AR Rahman composes the music while Santosh Sivan reunites with Mani Ratnam after Ravanan. Chekka Chivantha Vaanam will release on September 28.
