According to reports, as much as 150 people were severely injured in various places of Tamil Nadu during the new year celebration. A Government hospital in Chennai apparently recorded the highest number of patients, with 158 cases in one day.

Director Suseenthiran expressed his heartfelt grief towards the victims who died during new year celebration accidents, "My heartfelt condolences to the family of the 13 people who got killed due to road accidents on New Year day. Accidents like these should not happen in the future and youngsters must have the awareness about it."
