Chennai Engira Madras is a pilot film directed by Aravind Kumar. The film’s trailer was launched by actor Suriya on his twitter handle. Earlier Superstar Rajinikanth had watched the film’s trailer and was so impressed with its concept and making. In fact, he also said that the trailer actually looked like the trailer of a feature film, wishing Aravind that he will direct a big film very soon.

Producer Kalaippuli S Thanu and Lyricist Madhan Karky have also appreciated the film for its making, stating that the idea of making a sample film for the projected content is a good move to pitch stories to production houses and stars.

The film being directed and cinematographed by Aravind Kumar also has five music composers, Sundar Murthy, Inbaraj, Subhash, Khashish Verma and Parsa. While T. Udaykumar has done sound designing and Kripakaran has edited the film, Lalgudi Ilayaraja is the production designer. The film’s cast include veteran actor Subhalekha Sudhakar, Moonar Ramesh, Mime Gopi, Gowrishankar, Prashanth Bala, Rajadhiran and Jones with Karthik, a 7-year-old boy from North Chennai. Shot extensively in North Chennai, the film is said to be the first undercover investigative journalist film in Indian cinema.
