Kichcha Sudeep had recently paid a visit to Siddaganga Mutt in Tumkur in Karnataka. Addressing a press conference, post that, he was quizzed about the late Chiranjeevi Sarja's name being dragged into the drug controversy that plagued Sandalwood recently.
For those of you who came late, recently, director Indrajit Lankesh made a few explosive statements, hinting at rampant drug abuse in the Kannada film industry. He had appeared before the City Crime Branch (CCB) Narcotics Wing with his advocate and provided the details.
In a meet with a press, he had said, "I have submitted the necessary evidence to prove that the (Kannada) film industry is involved in drugs. The guilty should be punished. My attempt is only to protect the youth from falling prey to these...!"
He also added, "There are 10-15 actors and I have shared the names. I have also given the officers details about their usual hangouts. I am hopeful that they will find them. I have also given a lot videos and pictures to them. It has a lot of proof for their current investigations."
Following this, wild speculations linking Chiranjeevi Sarja's name to the scandal started doing the rounds. Sudeep is furious at the same and commented, "It’s been a few months since we lost Chiranjeevi Sarja. He was like a brother to me. He is survived by a loving wife Meghana Raj and his brother Dhruva, his family is still in grief. It is not fair to cause more hurt to them by bringing up his name in connection to the current scandal."
“I cannot comment on a matter which I am not aware of. However, the Kannada film industry is huge. We have a lot of creative people here. Let us not spoil the name of the industry because of a few people,” he said.
