Great things are generally expected from GV Prakash Kumar, maybe because of his pedigree of being related to AR Rahman or more importantly because he has now composed some good music for very popular movies as his latest work which was 'Asuran' was also very well received. Even when the teaser of Soorarai Pottru released, the intrigue was created not just by the storyline but also by the background score. So now we have the second single released from the movie and the composer has roped in an absolute star in this field who goes by the name of Harish Sivaramakrishnan. He is the vocalist of 'Agam', probably one of India's most renowned bands.
The song is well composed as it clearly makes you want to get from your sedentary position and tap your foot. The song has a rural background in its instrumental arrangement in the second layer if you pay attention and also employs good percussion to suit the current trends. When you have a powerful singer like Harish, it makes sense to leverage it and that is what GV has done by making use of his vocals in the interludes as well. The violin interlude does play a role the second time around and that is one of the highlights of the song.
This number is as enjoyable as another famous hit of last year 'Othayadi Paathaiyile' scored by Dhibu Ninan Thomas and sung by Anirudh. Harish truly carries Veyyon Silli on his shoulders and makes it a song that will most definitely become a hit amongst today's youngsters and only create further interest in the release of the movie.
