Legendary orator, author and Tamil scholar Solomon Pappaiah, known to the Tamil public as the judge of the Pattimandram debates that were held on Sun TV. The television personality was awarded the Behindwoods Gold Medal - Icon of Inspiration: Tamil literature and Debate for his contribution to the language.
The actor was felicitated by versatile musician, rapper, actor and director Hiphop Aadhi. After receiving the award, Solomon delivered his trademark ‘Anbu Thaaimargale’ opening greeting words. Aadhi thanked Behindwoods for creating the opportunity.
Pappaiah was later joined by Raja and Bharathi Baskar, regulars participants of his debate programmes, and this reunion has led rise to an impromptu debate on the stage with a relevant topic on whether Whatsapp is a boon or a bane to the society.
Raja argued that the youth can turn any technological advancement to their advantage while Bharathi Baskar countered him by saying that the usage of Whatsapp led to information theft and futile good morning messages. This argument by Bharathi Basker led Raja to one question - ‘Why does one have to interact with such numbers while they can be avoided using the block option.’
The mini debate was concluded by Solomon Pappaiah’s judgement “Through technology, we get access to a lot of amenities. We can keep the ones that are necessary and reject the ones that are not. Just because a tree sheds its leaves, that doesn’t make it an unworthy object.”
