Following the hugely infamous controversy surrounding Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, actress Alyssa Milano started hashtag #MeToo, so that every person who has been a victim of sexual assault tweets about it using the tag and the world gets to know the magnitude of the problem.

Twitter was flooded with personal stories of rape, assault, and harassment. Singer Chinmayi too has voiced her two cents on the issue.

Her tweet read: "The #MeToo hashtag is heartbreaking. And as real as it gets. I dont know one woman who hasnt been groped / leched at / sexual assaulted in some way. I also have friends, grown men now, who have been raped by older men."

It is shocking and horrifying to learn that her friends, women as well as men, have been victims of rape and sexual assault. Thanks to twitter and celebrities like her, victims are getting the courage and the platform to talk about experiences that would've otherwise never come to light.
