Gautham Menon had earlier revealed that he will be doing a multi-starrer titled Ondranga which happens to be a sequel to Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa. Madhavan was in talks to reprise Simbu's role in this sequel. But then as things didn't materialize, Gautham Menon had made some alteration to script and is now planning to cast Simbu as the lead.

There are rumours saying that Simbu has requested Gautham Menon to complete his on-going films like ENPT and Dhruva Natchathiram before starting Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa 2. When we checked with our sources close to STR, they replied with a yes.

The team is also in talks to change the title of this project and not name it as Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa 2. It could even be renamed as Vinnaithaandi Varuvean as speculated earlier but nothing has been finalized yet.

Simbu also has Maanadu with Venkat Prabhu and an untitled film with Sundar C. So it looks like Simbu will complete these two projects and then only work on Gautham Menon's film.
