In an unfortunate turn of events, singer SP Balasubrahmanyam reached heavenly abode today. He was 74. Tributes have been pouring in for him from various quarters. SPB was revered not only for his singing but for his acting as well.

Now, director Shankar in whose film Kadhalan, SPB played a vital role, which was an audience favourite as well, has condoled the veteran singer's death with a throwback photo accompanied by the words, Only a very few singers have the quality,they sing a song and it will be a hit even before it reaches the audience. SPB sir was the top among them. We lost him, not his voice. It will always be in the air. (sic)

 

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to write, "With the unfortunate demise of Shri SP Balasubrahmanyam, our cultural world is a lot poorer. A household name across India, his melodious voice and music enthralled audiences for decades. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti." (sic)

Actress Simran wrote, "Deeply saddened by the passing of Thiru #SPBalasubrahmanyam. Music will never be the same without him. Hope his soul rests in eternal peace. Condolences to the family and loved onesFolded hands
