Salem-based YouTuber PUBG Madan was arrested for speaking obscenely with young children on the pretext of coaching them for a banned game amidst other offences. Meanwhile, the probe also revealed that Madan had defrauded his fans to the tune of millions of rupees.
Following this, the Chennai Cybercrime Police had given an e-mail address for those who had been duped by PUBG Madan to lodge complaints with. Already, there have been 159 complaints across Tamil Nadu alleging that women were being videotaped as they were vulgarly spoken to amidst other offenses.
Of the complaints received, 40 per cent were for money laundering, 60 per cent sexual harassment. People have been duped from Rs 2,000 to Rs 50,000, according to the police. The cybercrime police also said that the money would be refunded if the complaints were lodged in writing and that all the complainants had been summoned by mail.
