Voting for the Assembly elections took place in Tamil Nadu yesterday (April 6). Voting began at 7 a.m. and ended at 7 p.m. Various film personalities including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay and Ajith registered their votes.
The celebrities who had voted, took a photo with their inked hands and posted it on social media. A few rumours were spreading that popular actor and director Samuthirakani didn’t vote in the election.
Samuthirakani released a video in this regard in which he stated that he and his wife walked to their booth and tried to cast their votes at 6.55 am itself. At first, the voting machine did not work. It took 30-40 minutes to fix it. Then at 7:40 am, I registered for the first ballot. Then I went for filming, he said. I did not advertise that I had voted. So many people are saying that I did not vote. I voted and did my duty, he reiterated.
Among the upcoming films Samuthirakani has, prominent among them is Thalaivi, starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead. The film is directed by Vijay. Samuthirakani plays MGR’s close aide RM Veerappan who was reportedly unhappy with the importance given to Jaya by MGR.
