Director Prem Kumar’s 96 was arguably one of the finest movies in Kollywood that starred Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead roles as Ram and Janu. The story revolves around the high school sweethearts who were united for a few precious hours after a class reunion. The movie did wonders at the box-office too.
Post the success of '96', it was remade in Kannada as '99' starring Ganesh and Bhavana in the lead roles and in Telugu that features Samantha and Sharwanand who is popularly known in Tamil from his role in 'Engeyum Eppothum'.
Directed by Prem Kumar himself again, the Telugu remake shooting was put on hold due to an accident faced by Sharwanand during the shoot of a skydiving scene for the film. The doctors had asked him to rest completely for 2 months after which the shoot continued.
Produced by Dil Raju, the film features music by Govind Vasantha. The makers have unveiled the first look and the title of the film. Titled as Jaanu itself, the first look features Sharwanand in a desert with a few camels facing him. The first look seems to portray the “life of Ram”. The teaser is expected to be released soon.
