Breaking news has it that RRR's post theatrical satellite and digital rights of all Indian languages have been bagged by ZEE5 for a record price of ₹325 crore.
“Baahubali was a smash hit on all mediums – theatrical, television, digital – and the trade is expecting the same from RRR too. The makers have sold the post release satellite and digital rights (All Languages) of RRR to Zee Group for a humongous sum in the range of Rs 325 crore, thereby making it the biggest post release deal of all time. The satellite and digital rights have been transferred by Jayatilal Gada (who held the rights) to Zee Group (sic),” entertainment portal Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying.
“But these are post release streaming rights and should not be mistaken for a direct to digital premiere,” the portal added the source as saying further.
RRR is said to release for Deepavali 2021 (October 13) although things could change looking at the present pandemic situation. RRR is directed by SS Rajamouli and stars Junior NTR and Ram Charan in the principal roles. The film also features Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris and Ray Stevenson, and will release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and several other Indian languages.
