The combo - Superstar Rajinikanth and AR Murugadoss’ much-awaited cop-flick, Darbar had hit the big screens on January 9th and is being received well at the box-office. With Pongal approaching fast, looks like the film will do wonders at the box-office.
Apart from Superstar the film featured Lady Superstar Nayanthara as the female lead, while Suniel Shetty, Yogi Babu, Nivetha Thomas, Jatin Sarna, Prateik Babbar, Nawab Shah, baby Manasvi Kottachi amongst others were seen in prominent roles.
Bankrolled by Subaskaran under the banner Lyca Productions, a dialogue in the film about 'shopping in Jail' has hurt the sentiments of a leading political party as it looked like it was coined keeping the politician in mind.
The production company has taken to their social media and issued a statement which also said that the controversial scene has been removed from the film. “In our "Darbar" film, particular words and dialogues having references to prisoners or inmates going out of jail or prison during their imprisonment term was only included with an intention of providing an entertainment to the audience and is not intended to refer to any specific individual or to offend anyone. However, since some of those particular words seemed to have hurt some people, we have hereby decided to remove the same from the film.”
