Rajinikanth’s meteoric rise in filmdom is well documented. Naturally it came as no surprise that he made his Bollywood debut in the early 80s. However, one fact that most of you might be unaware is that his Hindi film debut had a Vijayakanth connect to it.
Yes, Rajini made his Bollywood debut with Andha Kanoon, which released in 1983 and in which he had Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Reena Roy amongst others for company. The film is a remake of Vijayankanth’s smash hit, Sattam Oru Iruttarai, directed by SA Chandrasekar, Thalapathy Vijay’s father.
The movie tasted success in Hindi too which lead to Rajinikanth featuring in a few more films like Sridevi’s ChaalBaaz before eventually deciding to fully concentrate on Tamil films, which regularly are dubbed into Telugu and Hindi, thereby keeping legions of his fans everywhere, happy.
