Actresses Ragini and Sanjjanaa Galrani who have been languishing in prison for close to two months now, still seem to see no respite as a Karnataka High Court on Tuesday yet again dismissed their bail pleas.
The charges against the actresses include consuming and distributing contraband. They were charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 120B (criminal conspiracy) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) 1985 under sections 21, 21C, 27A, 27B, and section 29.
The duo is currently lodged at Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara prison. So far, 15 people have been arrested in the Sandalwood drugs case. Aditya Alva, Vivek Oberoi’s brother-in-law is also wanted by the cops, but somehow has managed to give them the slip. Sometime back, Oberoi’s residence was also searched by the cops.
Up north, Deepika Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash was served summons by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) but she remains untraceable, as per NCB officials. This investigation is pertaining to the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
Rajput, a formidable Bollywood actor, was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14. Suicide was ruled out to be the cause though further investigation is going on.
