Producer Michael Rayappan made an array of allegations against STR over the delay that the actor made, during the filming of AAA. A few other directors and producers have also accused STR in various other instances. Amidst all of these issues, STR was decided to play one of the leads in Mani Ratnam's upcoming film, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, which happened to be a pleasant surprise to everyone. In a recent interview with Behindwoods, producer P.L.Thenappan, who produced STR's Vallavan talked about the issue that he had with the AYM actor, and why Mani Ratnam could've decided to opt for STR.
"My accusation against Simbu was totally different. In films like Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, he is just an actor. But in the film that I bankrolled (Vallavan), he was the director and nothing in the shooting spot would function smoothly if the director isn't there. I launched him as the director. Since he didn't turn up for the shoot on those days, the delays in the production of the film happened, and there were a few hiccups.
But now, he has a very good market as an actor, and that is why producers want to cast him. At the end of the day, a producer who puts some money into a product, they want to make a profit out of it and there is a need to have a proper casting.", said P.L.Thenappan.
P.L.Thenappan, who is known for producing films such as Kadhala Kadhala, Panchathanthiram, is also ready with his next film, Peranbu, directed by Ram.
