The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election vote count is heading towards its finale with most of the constituencies being declared. DMK rules with a simple majority and its leader MK Stalin is set to take over as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Similarly, the DMK alliance parties have been recording significant victories in their respective constituencies. All the coalition parties like Congress, VCK, CPI, CPM, are in the lead in many places.
Among the other parties, MNM, the Naam Tamilar Katchi and the AMMK are nowhere to be found. Seeman contested from the Tiruvottiyur constituency in Chennai and suffered a major defeat. He lost by 37,510 votes to DMK candidate KP Sankar, who has been leading since morning and has won. AIADMK candidate Kuppan came second.
Overall, the Naam Tamilar Katchi, which contested alone in the 234 constituencies across Tamil Nadu, is embracing defeat in almost all places. However, it is poised to emerge as the third largest party in Tamil Nadu as it ranks third in many places with the votes it has polled.
