Actor Suriya is one among the most sought-after stars in the Kollywood industry. He is working on multiple projects which are in different stages of production. The ace-actor's much-awaited courtroom drama film 'Jai Bhim', directed by TJ Gnanavel is all set to release on popular OTT platform Amazon Prime Video on November 2.
The powerful trailer for the film was unveiled a few days back. It featured Suriya donning to the role of a lawyer who does everything he can to provide the rights that belong to the tribal community. 'Jai Bhim' trailer took us through the innocent and hardworking lives of an oppressed tribe who, even with no land to call their own nor a strong roof over their heads, find joys in simple things in life. However, as social injustice and brutality sweeps across these innocent lives, Advocate Chandru, portrayed by Suriya, battles for human rights. 'Jai Bhim' is based on a true incident that happened in 1993.
A day ahead of the movie's release Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin released a statement after watching the film. He stated that the core issue of the film reminded him of his own time in prison when arrested in 1976 under MISA (MAINTENANCE OF INTERNAL SECURITY ACT, 1971) during the emergency period, and that his heart felt very heavy after watching the movie.
“Although the screenplay has been woven around one incident, the impact it has on viewers’ hearts is quite heavy. Sometimes, some mistakes committed by some police officials tarnish the reputation of the entire department. At the same time, you have showed that it was another police official who was instrumental in bringing out the truth. You have shown that truth is established by straightforward and conscientious police officers,” he said.
Stalin pointed out that apart from this, the film also goes to show that any kind of injustice could be set right through law and justice. If both parties — a lawyer (Chandru) and a police official (IG Perumalsamy) — set their minds to it, they could prevent societal disorderliness. He also heaped praise on Suriya and said he deserves three congratulations – one each for selecting such a story, making it into a movie and for acting in it.
'Jai Bhim' stars Suriya, Lijomol Jose and Manikandan in lead roles. Prakash Raj, Rajisha Vijayan, Jayaprakash and Rao Ramesh play supporting roles in the film.
