Important activists and members from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) created a ruckus at PVR Cinemas, located in Lower Parel in Mumbai, for overpricing of the food items and not allowing to bring outside food.

Food Minister Girish Bapat had recently announced that multiplexes and other cinema halls in Mumbai should allow its patrons to carry outside food. The new order was said to be implemented from August 1 of this year, and 17 members from MNS went to the said cinema hall to check if the rule is being followed.

According to reports, each of them had a samosa packet that they bought from outside. However, during the security check at the screen's entry, the members were supposedly stopped from taking the samosas inside.

This act irked the activists, who started to argue with the theatre officials and staged protests inside the theatre premises. The situation was bought under control after the intervention of the Mumbai Police.

This past week, a few activists from Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party in Maharashtra, beat up the manager of a PVR cineplex in Pune for apparently selling pop-corn at high prices.

The group of people were reportedly led by Kishore Shinde, a former councillor of the party. While speaking to the press after the incident, Shinde was quoted saying, "Popcorn worth Rs 5 was being sold for Rs 250. We told the manager that even the Bombay High Court has called for prices to be reduced. But the manager said he did not read the newspapers. So we taught him a lesson in 'MNS style."

It has been reported that the multiplex authorities have made a formal police complaint and suitable action will be taken.
