Popular Sri Lankan singer, songwriter and rapper Yohani de Silva who began her career as a YouTuber, rose to fame with her recent official cover of the song ‘Manike Mage Hithe’ by Satheeshan Rathnayaka. The official cover, released by Yohani and Satheeshan on May 22, 2021, went viral surpassing 130 million views on YouTube.
The song soon became an instant hit outside Sri Lanka, especially in South Asian countries including India with many celebrities including Madhuri Dixit, Tiger Shroff, Parineeti Chopra were seen grooving to the song on their Instagram reels and videos. Many influencers too shared it making the song an instant hit worldwide. Following the rise in popularity of the song, it has been adapted into Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bangla and other languages by a number of popular artistes.
Yohani, who had set out to perform in India suffered a minor accident while performing in Delhi few days ago. She was visibly seen with a bruise in her eye during a number of interviews she gave during her visit to India. Updating her fans about the same, she wrote that she knocked her face on the head of the guitar.
Sharing her photo on her Instagram page, she said, "Show must go on! Had an accident on stage during the last performance. As I was so engrossed in the moment and performing for you I knocked my face on the head of a guitar. I didn’t realize that I bruised my face in the process as well. This is the aftermath. “Our lives are shaped by how we move. By how hard we push, flip, fly, and hang. Our stories are written on our calluses and scars, through our battles and mistakes”
