The Malayalam film industry has been given the nod to resume post-production works from today onwards. Kerala State Minister for Culture and Films A K Balan announced the same and said post-production works for Television serials and movies can commence, subject to following of lockdown rules. He also added that the same has been discussed with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
"Only five people should be involved and they should work keeping in mind the social distancing norms. The studios and work places should be first disinfected and then only the work should begin," he was quoted as saying by local media.
This decision was welcomed warmly. "The lockdown came into effect all of a sudden and many people are locked up at various places. But the positive in this relaxation is all were sitting idle, so this should be seen up as a wakeup call to get back to work. Those who can work, can now do it and in that aspect, it's good," actress Keerthy Suresh's father, Suresh Kumar was quoted as saying.
As with any other industry, the Malayalam film industry has also been adversely affected by the lockdown with several completed works on hold and workers unable to fend for themselves.
