After eight years, the state government’s prestigious Kalaimamani award was revived and was conferred to 201 artists. The Kalaimamani awards are given away by the Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram (literature, music and theatre) for excellence in the field of art and literature.
The winners were conferred with the award from Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami on August 13th at Kalaivanar Arangam. As Vijay Sethupathi was not available then, he received the prestigious Kalaimamani award from Honourable Minister Mafoi Pandiarajan, the Minister for Tamil Official Language, Tamil Culture and Archeology at the Secretariat today.
Vijay Sethupathi who is lovingly called as Makkal Selvan had rose to fame with his sheer hard work and talent and honouring him with this prestigious award is undoubtedly one of the best awards.
