DY Patil Education Society, Kolhapur on Wednesday conferred actor R Madhavan the degree of Doctor of Letters (D Litt) for his outstanding contribution to the arts and cinema.
Maddy received the honour at the ninth convocation of the educational institute. “I am truly humbled by this honour. This will only motivate me to keep pushing the envelope and challenging myself with newer projects,” he said in a statement.
Madhavan began his career in the late 90s in television and got a break with Mani Ratnam’s Alaipayuthey in 2000 and has since appeared in several blockbusters such as Run, Minnale, Vikram Vedha amidst others.
He made his digital debut with Amazon Prime Video’s Breathe in 2018. He was last seen in the 2020 romantic film Maara, the official Tamil remake of Dulquer Salman-starrer Charlie, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video. He is currently awaiting the release of his directorial debut, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, in which he also stars alongside Simran and other actors.
