Legendary filmmaker Basu Chatterjee had been a sensational director during the 70’s, with many of his movies becoming blockbuster. He passed away today in Mumbai, aged 93.
Filmmaker and Indian Film & TV Directors’ Association president Ashoke Pandit shared the news through his Twitter handle. His tweet read, “I am extremely grieved to inform you all the demise of Legendary Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee ji . His last rites will be performed today at Santacruz creamation at 2 pm. It’s a great loss to the industry. Will miss you Sir. #RIPBasuChaterjee.”
Basu Chatterjee had worked with superstars such as Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna during the peak of their careers. He was also awarded the National Film Award for Best Film on Family Welfare for the movie ‘Durga’.
