The Kerala Hindu Aikya Vedi President, KP Sasikala has condemned the makers of the upcoming mighty budget epic film, Mahabharatham starring Mohanlal. She has reportedly claimed that the movie cannot be titled as Mahabharatham, and if they do so, the Kerala Hindu Aikya Vedi will fight against its release.

The film was announced a few weeks ago, and Dr. BR Shetty, UAE-based billionaire is ready to invest Rs.1000 crores in this prospective master creation, directed by VA Shrikumar Menon. She has apparently drawn parallels with the makers of Da Vinci Code, saying that they made the movie based on the Bible but didn't title it as 'Bible.' She had also denounced that, since the film is based on MT Vasudevan’s novel Randamoozham, it could carry the same title but not Mahabharatham. She has also ostensibly added that the Hindus who are a part of the Kerala Hindu Aikya Vedi believe that only a film which is precisely based on the actual Mahabharatham written by Vyasa can be titled the same.

Mahabharatham is touted to go on floors in late 2018, and a 2020 release in languages such as Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and English is planned. There has been no official word yet, from the makers, based on this statement made by KP Sasikala.
