Remember, the eccentric character called Tony from Nayanthara's Kolamaavu Kokila? Yes, who could probably forget him easily? Behindwoods got in touch with Redin Kingsly in an exclusive interview, where he discussed about his role in the film. He also revealed that he played an important role in STR's Vettai Mannan, which was supposed to be Nelson's debut directorial, that was eventually dropped due to reasons unknown.

Talking about Vettai Mannan, Redin shared, "I know Nelson for the past ten years, and he is a good friend of mine. He gave me a very important lead role in Vettai Mannan. We completed the shoot of the entire first half, and only the second half was left to be shot. But, since then the film did not take off at all.

We all waited for six long years, but didn't see any improvement. I am still worried about STR missing that film. He should have done Vettai Mannan. It would have been a very big hit and an important film in his career. The story had so much of scope for him to act, and his performance was vera level with what I saw.

It is a totally contrasting subject from Kolamaavu Kokila. The entire film will have a Brazilian tone with its visuals. It was a promising subject. Vettai Mannan was an action gangster film dealing with street gangsters and their livelihood. It was a pucca local and regional flavoured script. We shot it in a big scale too. We are not sure why STR missed the film. That is the only worry. It would have been a great film for all of us."

STR's look from director Mani Ratnam's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam was revealed this evening. He plays a character named, 'Ethi' aka Ethiraj, in CCV, while in Nawab, the Telugu version of the film, his character is called Rudra.

Looking back at the previous posters, the other three lead actors, Arvind Swami, Arun Vijay, and Vijay Sethupathi have had same character names for both, the Tamil and Telugu versions. The case is different only with STR's character and we need to wait for the film to know if there is any reason behind this difference in the character's name.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that Ethiraj is another name of Lord Shiva, and it is the same case with Rudra too. So does this symbolize that STR's character could be similar to that of Lord Shiva, i.e, elements of anger? Stay tuned.
